Nooses Spark Controversy Because Of What They Symbolize

The discovery of nooses hung in various places across the country has some saying it's disrespectful, other claim it's harmless.

These symbols of racism began to surface recently across the country. Authorities say they're investigating nooses found at Grambling State University, a Long Island police station and even at public schools in North Carolina.

Students at East Carolina say it's discouraging when some take this act so lightly. An ECU sociology professor says the best way to help people understand the symbolic significance of these actions is to open a dialog between racial groups and educate them on the history.

Get over it! As long as Jackson and Sharpton keep dragging these things up there will always be a wall between us. Just ignore it and it will eventually go away. Take the KKK as an example. They have been basically ignored as a fringe group and their membership has declined to near nothing. This latest frenzy will only increase their membership. Enough already!
