Welcome Home for Troops

Relief Wednesday for families and friends and for 2,200 Marines and Sailors now back home in Eastern Carolina.

Troops from the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit returned to hugs, and high fives at Camp LeJeune. The 22nd has been away for seven months, most of that time spent inside Afghanistan, locked in battles with Taliban and Al Qaeda forces. The local troops were sent to secure free elections, which will take place in October.

Families say having their men and women in combat was difficult, especially since contact by Email or phone was sporadic. But many sent packages from home.
