UPDATE: Scattered Power Outages On The Outer Banks
Scattered power outages have been reported in Dare and Currituck Counties as Hurricane Earl lashed the coast.

Scattered power outages have been reported in Dare County as Hurricane Earl lashed the coast.
Dare County Emergency Management reports scattered power outages in Southern Shores; crews are responding to blown transformers. Some in Mann's Harbor on the mainland of Dare County also lost power. Dominion Power says the total number of people without power was around 700. They expected power to be restored by 10 a.m. Friday.
Currituck County Public Information Officer Randall Edwards says about 1,000 people there have lost power. Dominion Power crews are working to restore power.
