The re-trial of a Pamlico County man went to the jury this afternoon.
Vaughn Jones did not take the witness stand this morning, nor did his attorney put on any evidence. The case quickly moved to closing arguments.
The jury started deliberating at 3:35 p.m.
Jones is accused of killing Rosa and Richard Flowers back in January of 2003 in their Pamlico County home. Jones worked for Richard Flowers and witnesses said Jones often borrowed money from him and did odd jobs around their home.
Jones' first trial a year ago ended in a deadlocked jury. This time the trial was moved to Craven County and prosecutors decided not to seek the death penalty if Jones is convicted.
