Saving on Prescription Drugs

If you're a Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina member, you could save some money the next several months on out-of-pocket prescription drug costs.

The company is waiving co-payments for members who fill a generic drug prescription from October through December 31, 2004. The initiative is part of an effort by Blue Cross and Blue Shield to help members manage their prescription drug costs without sacrificing quality.

They are launching this generic co-payment holiday to encourage their members to talk to their physicians and pharmacists about whether switching to a generic drug might be right for them.

Generic drugs typically cost thirty to seventy percent less than the comparable brand-name drug.
