The Better Business Bureau is warning about a payday lender that has also gotten the attention of the North Carolina Attorney General.

The Better Business Bureau of Eastern Carolina says it has received more than 20 complaints in the past three weeks about Select Platinum Credit, an alleged credit service provider claiming to operate in Rocky Mount. The complaints are from people who had found a charge of $49.99 on their bank statements.

The BBB says everyone who complained had applied for various payday loans online, providing sensitive financial information including their bank account number and their digital signature with a mouse. The North Carolina Attorney General's office has issued a cease and desist order against Select Platinum Credit.

“The bottom line is if you are handing over your bank account information online to get a payday loan without doing your research, you are setting yourself up to pay hundreds and even thousands of dollars more than you bargained for,” said Beverly Baskin, President and CEO of BBB serving Eastern North Carolina.

Payday loans are a necessity to some people. Slavery doesnt have a choice...Payday loans are a choice. If your too dumb to know the difference maybe you should move to a communist country that will tell you what to eat and what to buy

Hi Sue, I had the same thing happen to me a couple of months ago! Some representative told me that they were going to take me to court if I didn't pay the money back and that they were going to come out to my job and have me arrested!! I too was using a prepaid card and they said that this was not going to work but yet they called me and say that they were to take me to court over money that I never received!!! I would love to know if there is any help or if anybody else has had the same thing happen to them as well.
