Food Lion Recalls Milk Quarts After Complaints Of Spoiling

The Food Lion grocery chain has pulled three types of milk from shelves in its 1,200 stores after customers complained that it spoiled before the expiration date.

The voluntary recall was ordered yesterday and it was too early to tell how many of the quart-size containers were involved.

Spokeswoman Karen Peterson said today that customers who bought the milk may return it for a refund.

Milk involved in the recall had expiration dates of Nov. 3, Nov. 4, Nov. 9 or Nov. 10.

Peterson said the Food Lion-brand milk had these UPC code and
item numbers:
--whole milk, UPC code 3582600306 and item number 64286-8.
--2 percent milk, UPC code 3582602434 and item number 64287-6.
--skim milk, UPC code 2582604059 and item number 64289-2.

Last 2 times(within last 4 weeks) I purchased milk(half gal.-2 percent) at my local Foodlion, I have had to pour it out at least 6 days before the experation date. Does 2 percent milk seem to spoil quicker than whole milk? What could I do since I do not have a receipt or the empty container?
