Thoughts of the September 11th tragedy captured the minds of American's Saturday, including those here in the east. That's why local emergency responders gathered in the city of Washington, to remember their fallen comrades and to pass on safety information to future generations in case they have to deal with an emergency here in the east.

Kids from all across Beaufort County learned about how emergency responders from police, sheriff deputies, firefighters, and even safety diver's from the Sydney Diving Team do their jobs. Kids participated in home fire safety drills and also were taught about the 9-11 attacks through pictures in a 9-11 book the American Red Cross was selling.

The American Red Cross is still selling the 9-11 picture books out of their Washington office for a discounted price of just 10 dollars a piece.
