If you plan to take Interstate 40 over the next month, you might run into some delays.
The state Department of Transportation will close lanes on the interstate as it repairs bridges over U.S. 117 near Warsaw.
The closures begin October 1st at 8 a.m. and will continue for four weeks.
During this time some entrance ramps will be closed, and there will be detours for wide loads.

NCDOT TO CLOSE LANES ON I-40 AT MILE MARKER 369 NEAR WARSAW FOR BRIDGE REPAIRS
Closures Will Occur Monday Through Friday for Four Weeks in October
RALEIGH - The N.C. Department of Transportation will close lanes on I-40 at mile marker 369 near Warsaw for repairs to the bridges over U.S. 117 beginning Monday, Oct. 1, at 8 a.m., weather permitting. The closures will be in place Monday through Friday for four weeks in October, according to the following schedule:
WEEKS 1-2: Monday, Oct. 1, 8 a.m. - Friday, Oct. 5, 5 p.m., and
Monday, Oct. 8, 8 a.m. - Friday, October 12, 5 p.m.: I-40 Westbound one lane (alternating between the right and left lanes) and the I-40 Westbound entrance ramp from U.S. 117 will be closed.
WEEKS 3-4: Monday, Oct. 15, 8 a.m. - Friday, Oct. 19, 5 p.m.,
Monday, Oct. 22, 8 a.m. - Friday, Oct. 26, 5 p.m.: I-40 Eastbound one lane (alternating between the right and left lanes) and the I-40 Eastbound exit ramp from U.S. 117 will be closed.
The detours for these weeks are as follows:
FOR I-40 WESTBOUND (wide loads MUST take detour route): Take Exit 369 for U.S. 117. Turn right on U.S. 117 North and right onto N.C. 24 Business. Return to I-40 West at mile marker 364.
FOR I-40 WESTBOUND ENTRANCE RAMP FROM U.S. 117: Take U.S. 117 North to N.C. 24 Business. Turn left on N.C. 24 Business and enter onto I-40 West at mile marker 364.
FOR I-40 EASTBOUND (wide loads MUST take detour route): Take Exit 364 for N.C. 24 Business. Turn left onto N.C. 24 Business and then right onto U.S. 117 South. Return to I-40 East at mile marker 369.
FOR I-40 EASTBOUND EXIT RAMP TO U.S. 117: Take Exit 364 for N.C. 24 Business. Turn right onto N.C. 24 Business and then right onto U.S. 117 South.
All travel lanes will be open on the weekends during the construction period.
NCDOT reminds motorists to stay alert, use alternate routes when possible during this period, drive with caution, obey the posted speed limits and allow extra travel time.
