Authorities Say Serial Bank Robber Caught

Authorities believe they have caught a serial bank robber, a man suspected of robbing four banks here in Eastern Carolina.

The latest happened yesterday at the First Citizens Bank on Richlands Highway in Jacksonville.

Deputies say they caught Victor Angus last night around 10 p.m. at the Triangle Motor Lodge, just blocks from the First Citizens.

An Onslow County deputy was patrolling last night, looking for a dark blue Ford 150 pickup truck when he spotted one at the motel. Deputies say they recovered cash from yesterday's robbery and the suspected weapon--a BB gun.

Jacksonville police say the 57 year old Angus is the same man who robbed the Cooperative Bank on Western Boulevard on August 27th.

New Bern police say they are obtaining warrants against Angus for the August 28th holdup at the East Carolina Bank on Glenburnie Road.

Police say Angus is also a suspect in a robbery a RBC Centura Bank in Wilmington last Thursday.
