More Local Volunteers Could Head to Sunshine State

As Hurricane Ivan steers closer to the U.S., more help is on the way to storm-ravaged Florida. More Red Cross volunteers boarded planes for the Sunshine State Wednesday.

Three trained disaster volunteers will replace three others sent in the wake of Hurricane Charley, who weathered out Frances last week.

Onslow County has another eight volunteers that could be sent in for 21-day tours if Ivan hits. Dozens more are ready to help if a hurricane or disaster hits closer to home.
