Locked Up For A Good Cause In Emerald Isle

The mayor of Emerald Isle and several Food Lion managers spent Friday behind bars all to raise money for Children's Miracle Network and Vidant Children's Hospital in Greenville.

Mayor Art Schools, Emerald Isle Food Lion store manager James Newscomb, district manager Chris Whaley and regional manager Joe Stock headed off to jail to pay off a debt, so to speak.

The Food Lion store had a goal to raise $40,000 this year for Vidant Children's Hospital. But the managers decided if they exceeded that goal they would let the police lock them up. The mayor joined in that pledge. The store ended up raising $42,000...so off to jail they went!!

Food Lion is the largest national sponsor for Vidant Children's Hospital. It has raised over $2.1 million for the hospital.
