Thousands of people are pouring into Washington this weekend for the East Carolina Wildlife Arts Festival, the North Carolina Decoy Championships and the Dock Dogs competition.
Much of the activity takes place at the Washington Civic Center, which is located on the corner of Main Street and Gladden Street.
The carving contest takes place at Red Men’s lodge on Third Street and is open to the public Saturday and Sunday.
The art and decoy auction is held at the Washington Country Club.
The DockDogs competition is open to the public Friday, Saturday and Sunday and is held at Kugler Field, which is located at the corner of Hudnell Street and Third Street.
The DockDogs competition, as seen on the Outdoor Channel and ESPN, showcases dogs competiting in tasks such as big air and speed retrieving.
On Saturday, the Southern Classic Duck, Goose and Swan calling competition will be held. It will be held on the Oakland Stage on Stewart Parkway and Respess Street. The winner of the duck calling competition will represent North Carolina at the World Championship in Arkansas. Registration begins at 8 a.m.
According to online information, a ticket for the weekend is $15 or $10 for a day pass, and tickets will be available at each venue.
