The storms and heavy rainfall didn’t cooperate with film crews setting up Tuesday in Kenansville, Duplin County to shoot scenes for the upcoming “Iron Man 3” movie.
The plan was to close down about a 200 yard stretch of Highway 11 from 6 o’clock til between 3 and 5 in the morning on Wednesday. But the rain was so heavy that well after the road was supposed to be closed, it was still open and no movie scenes were being filmed.
The movie has already filmed in Wilmington and Cary. People in Kenansville, like Michael Usher, are excited a little bit of Hollywood is coming to their town. “I caught wind that they were actually filming “Iron Man 3” today so I was like yeah, I need to come on down and check it out. I only stay a few miles away, might as well come out and see something you know.”
Usher’s friend Lance Shoaf said, “This town’s very small and having actors that come around from Los Angeles and Hollywood, everybody’s out here.”
The movie stars Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlett Johansson.
Crews on scene were unable to speak on camera due to legal obligations, but they said shooting started around 1:00 in the afternoon indoors.
The same shooting schedule is set for Wednesday.
