NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A publicist for Eddie Montgomery says the Montgomery Gentry star has prostate cancer.
An e-mailed statement from the Kentucky native says he will undergo surgery to remove a cancerous tumor in December.
Montgomery asks supporters to keep him and his family in their prayers. And he promises to be "back in January and ready to rock for all the fans!"
