New Bern Mayor Lee Bettis appeared on the Anderson show Wednesday on WITN to honor author Nicholas Sparks.
Sparks was on the show to promote the new movie made from his book "The Lucky One." It will be in theaters Friday.
Bettis joined the show via computer and announced that April 20 will now be known as Nicholas Sparks Community Volunteerism Day in New Bern.
Sparks lives in New Bern and is very active in local charities. His foundation has organized a Celebrity Family Weekend in New Bern. It starts Friday. To learn more about this weekend's events, click on the related link below.
