MTV To Tape Show On ECU Campus

East Carolina University is hosting MTV film crews on campus this week, along with a man considered America's most popular sex columnist.

Dan Savage will be hosting a Q&A session Wednesday evening, where "no topics are taboo." MTV film crews will be arriving on campus Tuesday. MTV will be taping the event Wednesday night, and it's expected what they tape will air on the network at some point.

ECU says this is an opportunity for its students to "engage in an intelligent, healthy discussion about personal relationships, situations and challenges."

All in all, at the end of the day, nobody cares what a single one of you thinks about ECU or its reputation. Go on living your life...

Me, I just miss the old days..back when the "M" in "MTV" actually stood for "music". The wonderful, magical 1980s, when they played actual VIDEOS. Duran Duran, ZZ Top, Cyndi Lauper, Night Ranger, Rick Springfield....back before Kurt Cobain and Nirvana arrived to ruin Top 40 forever. I have a HUGE music collection, and it spans from about 1975 to 1990. Music-wise, everything that's come out after that is pure garbage. How much longer until time travel is possible?

Amen. MTV has very little to do with music anymore. It's all about young people with big egos. I guess kids want to see what's on it now or it wouldn't still be here. Never thought I'd be the "old guy" talking about "these kids nowadays" but I must be.

By the way, I am a HUGE fan of "if you don't like something, don't watch it." "If something offends you, don't listen to it." Don't ruin the dialogue for everyone else.

I consider myself more conservative by far in my thinking and values. I do think that these issues should be talked about rather than hidden or not addressed at all. Education is a good thing. Some people would rather everyone just not talk about sex and keep the subject in the dark which does not promote healthy living AT ALL.

In one of the lesser educated regions of the world you can't expect a renowned prestigious University. ECU is what it is.
  • by laura Location: greenville on Oct 19, 2011 at 12:55 PM the doods at ECU from up north (you know who you are)...this isn't the Jersey Shore, and you're not "The Situation" so try to act like civilized and respectful young men.

@FUNNY: You are a wonderful representative of ECU. I especially like your use of "your" instead of "you're" and "weather" instead of "whether". It's nice to know there's a college where people who don't know 3rd grade grammar can party for four years thinking they got an education.

I do not "think" I got a degree. I know I got one... at least that is what the paper with ECU's seal on it says. Took me 4.5 years actually with summer school, but do not care, probably just adds to your stereotype of all ECU "GRADS". Oh and NO it was not an English degree but it could have been worse I could have spelled them incorrectly. ECU is proud of me and I love ECU so I will not just let people trash it. Where did you go to school?

ECTC, you hit the nail on the head. Just because someone actually "graduates" from ECU, doesnt mean that they learned anything of value. FUNNY is a great example of a "well rounded and educated" ECU grad
