Jerry Peterson, who spent more than 30 years as a television and radio personality in North and South Carolina, has died.
He was 76.
According to Greene Funeral Home, Peterson died Friday at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill. A cause of death was not given.
A native of Ponca City, Okla., Peterson spent the last 21 years of his career at WRHI in Rock Hill and taped his last broadcast just an hour before his death.
He spent 10 years as weatherman on WSOC-TV in Charlotte, N.C., in the 1970s and '80s.
Peterson was inducted into the South Carolina Broadcasters Hall of Fame in January and received the Lifetime Achievement Award.
He is survived by his wife, Melba, and three sons.
