Spelling skills were put to the test Tuesday night in Beaufort County.
The Washington/Beaufort County Chamber of Commerce held its 7th annual adult team spelling bee.
In the end, the team from Washington High School came out victorious, outlasting the other 23 teams by correctly spelling the 49th word of the night. That word was anachronism, which means a chronological misplacing of persons, events, objects or customs in regard to each other.
WITN's Dave Jordan was the pronouncer for the spelling bee, which is a fundraiser for workforce development programs in the Beaufort County schools.
