Actor Snipes Speaks To Larry King About Prison Sentence

Actor Wesley Snipes says he relied on the advice of tax professionals and doesn't believe he deserves a three-year prison sentence for failing to pay taxes.

Snipes says his case has been misrepresented in the media and he wanted to clear the air on CNN's "Larry King Live" Tuesday night. He said he's not nervous about reporting to a Pennsylvania prison Thursday. He says he was more upset and disappointed that the legal system was not working in his favor.

Snipes did not directly blame his accountants or financial advisors on his troubles, but said he relied on their advice.

The 48-year-old star of the "Blade" trilogy was convicted in 2008 in a Florida court on three misdemeanor counts of willful failure to file income tax returns.

No wonder our kids do not have any modern day people to look up to. Just another high profile idiot that breaks the law in one way or another. How disappointing AGAIN. But not shocking sadly. Sports figures, actors and all of them.

and another thing: I think Snipes and anyone else SHOULD pay what is owed just because it's the law. I just would like the IRS to have a little less power over the hard working Americans who believe in the American way.

No, I don't mean stick it to the tax payers - I mean the IRS organization itself who throws its weight around. Haven't you heard any of the horror stories of how the IRS gets even with people who cross them. And I am born and bred in the USA and I love my country and I love my freedom; I just don't like those who are in powerful positions who are dishonest. I pay taxes and have paid taxes for many years - and watched my taxes support illegals and welfare while I live from paycheck to paycheck. I don't hate the system. I hate the way it's run.

That's the way the ball rolls in America. Nothing seems fair. I've seen murderers get the death sentence and other murderers get just 25 years. Presidents pardon members of congress who should have been put in prison. I guess it depends on who you are and what your job is.......We should all be treated equally.

I guess if you want to get away with not paying taxes you have to be a member of Congress.

3 years for 3 misdemeanors? Is that normal?

"Misinformed" would be the best word to describe your comment. How do you suggest we get the money from Wesley. He makes millions on one film. Most of us don't make the taxes he owes in our lifetimes. Read a little bit about things before commenting. It make you look much smarter and keeps you from wasting time. Like you just did.
