Huge Film & Production Studio To Open In Wilmington

The third-largest film and production stage in the United States is on track to open in May in Wilmington.

Officials with EUE/Screen Gems said Wednesday that its "Dream
Stage 10" is scheduled to open May 22. Already, they said, two
large feature films are considering filming at the 37,500-foot,
column-free stage that includes a 186,000-gallon indoor special
effects water tank.

The water tank will be one of only three in North America. The
other two are studio-owned, which means outside productions have
limited access.

EUE/Screen Gems broke ground on the stage in September 2008.

The CW series "One Tree Hill" films at the studio. Movies recently
filmed there include "Nights in Rodanthe" and "The Secret Life
of Bees."
