The sour economy has seen many spring breakers heading to their own backyard and hitting up the crystal coast this year.
Wind and cold temperatures kept traffic down Thursday but tourism officials say it was a different story earlier in the week.
The warmer weather has drawn North Carolinians in from across the state, and they're beefing up business at local beach shops.
