Memorial Set For Jennifer Hudson's Mother, Brother And Nephew

CHICAGO (AP) -- Friends and relatives of Jennifer Hudson are expected at her childhood church in Chicago for an evening memorial service to mourn the Oscar-winning actress' slain mother, brother, and nephew.

The memorial for Darnell Donerson, Jason Hudson, and Julian King is set for late afternoon Sunday at Pleasant Gift Memorial Baptist Church.

A publicist says Jennifer Hudson and her sister, Julia Hudson, won't attend the service.

The three victims were shot late last month.

No one has been charged in the killings. However, authorities have called Julia Hudson's estranged husband, 27-year-old William Balfour, a "person of interest." Balfour is in custody on a parole violation.

Does anyone really care? Hudson's mug has been plastered all over every tabloid on newsstands for the past week. Some of the photos of her look like mugshots, anyhow. If she was not an overrated, overhyped so-called "entertainer" who's story is the stuff of Lifetime made for TV movies about the oppressed, downtrodden child from the inner city ghetto who rises to every occasion and meets it head on with guts and determination, than this would not be news.
