Young Ladies Becoming A.W.A.R.E.

Young teens in the east are becoming A.W.A.R.E of what it's like to become an electrician or engineer.

In a profession, that is mostly dominated by men, these young ladies are spending a part of the summer becoming their on engineers.

Sixteen rising 7th and 8th graders are attending Camp A.W.A.R.E at Pitt Community College. The Camp is designed to familiarize young women with the building blocks of creating electrical circuits along with engineering skills.

A.W.A.R.E stands for Advancing Women In Automation and Robotics Engineering.

This is first year of this camp and if completely free to students.

A $140 ,000 grant from the National Science Foundation paid for meals, materials and field trips.
