North Carolina State University is altering its final exam schedule in advance of a pre-winter storm that will drop frozen precipitation on portions of the state.
The school announced on its web site that students scheduled for 8 a.m. exams on Thursday will take those tests at 10 a.m. Exams scheduled for 1 p.m. were delayed until 2 p.m., and the 6 p.m. exams will be held as scheduled.
A storm system moving in from the west will collide with cold air already in place, leading to a mixture of snow, sleet and freezing rain.
A winter storm warning is posted for the northwest mountains and along the Virginia state line, while a winter weather advisory is in effect from the central and southern mountains to the coastal plain.
