Two Charged With Possessing Gun At School

Two Wayne County students are in a juvenile detention facility after deputies say they had a a pistol at a middle school.

Deputies say back on February 1st they received a report of the two with a gun at Rosewood Middle School. When deputies arrived the two were found some two miles from the school and a .45 caliber pistol was seized. The two were released to their parents.

Since then, juvenile petitions charging the two with carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a firearm by a minor have been obtained as well as possession of the weapon on school grounds.

Deputies say the two were not students at Rosewood, never entered the school and had no contact with students.

Is it fair to blame the parents when they have done all they can do to teach their children what is right? Who do we blame when our childrens rolemodels get caught drinking and driving and lustinig our children and policeman who get caught doing unlawful things? Just saying!! Do we blame the parents? In the court of law innocent until proven guilty applies to all us citizens. Its easy to sit back and judge while the parents have to live under such scrutiny. Everyone who has a child would want so much more for their child. Juvenile services won't help only until they break the law. GO FIGURE!!

Two more reasons to own a gun and not be afraid to use it.

I'm sure these parents were shocked to find out their two young sons were toting guns and just added more misery when they were informed it was around school property. As the two young men have not been seen by either set of parents in several days, they are always in the street at all hours of the night and rarely attend school. The black communities in the south have a real gang, thug problem. And it's going to take the black community to get involved and keep their young black men at home and off the streets. Until they do this, it's only going to get worse. We don't have enough laws in this country to stop ignorance. It's the parents fault...in my book. Stop letting the streets raise your children that you collect a check for! Do your job.

Safety is becoming an issue in the schools, I hope the Public School budget cuts don't include reducing adult personnel in the schools that supervise our children for 8 hours per day.

I agree we are security guards, educators, social workers and parents at any given point during the workday.

The worst part about this is that no parents were informed this happened. Now that I know.....SOMETHING IS GOING TO HAPPEN. My child attends this school. I've had enough.

Ralph there is no permit to possess a firearm in North Carolina. Gun owners lock up your guns there is no excuse for any child having access to an unattended weapon.

The only problem with locking guns up THESE days is trying to access it(your gun) when someone like them is breaking into your house!

There are small quick access safes, such as those made by Gunvault, that provide a good balance between keeping them locked up in a combination safe that might take a minute to open and just leaving it on the nightstand for anyone to pick up and do dumb stuff with. Either that, or I simply put it on when I get up in the morning (I am permitted to carry as side note) and I leave it on all day and carry it where ever it is legal to do so. For me, it isn't a big deal it all. Plus, I prefer to carry using an inside-the-pants holster, which helps to fill out my pants since I lost 30 lbs recently! ;)

Released to their parents?? This is a case I don't care how old they are start them young, if you violate the law go ahead lock them up and throw away the key! Teach them now because when they are considered adults, if they are carrying pistols at this age, then they will be carrying them at 18 on up and doing more crime!! I can't say it enough, our judicial system is a joke!!! Lack of parenting and wanting to live the thug life..something has to change!!

Shoulda tried to 'scare them straight' instead of releasing them to their 'parents'.

Obviously their parents have no control over them as it is, so why release them back to the parents? These two deserve to be locked up in juvenile for a month or two.
