A Pitt County teacher has resigned amid allegations of misconduct between her and a male student. The incident is now being investigated by deputies.
School system spokeswoman Heather Mayo tells WITN News that the woman taught at North Pitt High School.
Mayo says they had suspended the teacher after learning of the possible misconduct on Friday and then on Monday the teacher resigned.
The student is 17 years old.
The school system has reported what happened to the Pitt County Sheriff's Office, which is investigating, as well as to the state Board of Education.
The teacher's name will not be released unless charges are filed.
