The Teacher of the Week is LaKesia Boone.
She works at Hertford County High School in Ahoskie, where she has been teaching 11th and 12th grade social studies for 11 years.
LaKesia is also the current HCHS Teacher of the Year.
She earned her Bachelors and Masters from ECU. She is working on an advanced degree and plans to stay in education.
LaKesia writes: “Teaching is rooted deep in my heart. I love my school, my staff and most of all my students.”
LaKesia received more nominations than any other Teacher of the Week so far. Dozens of students e-mailed and nominated her, saying she is a great teacher who really cares about them.
