Onslow County Senior Earns Nationwide Honor

An Onslow County High School student is among a select few scholars nationwide to be honored at the 2014 Congress of Future Medical Leaders.

Southwest High School senior Courtney Whaley received a scholarship to attend the Congress of Future Medical Leaders in Washington D.C. February 14th through the 16th.

All students in the program must have a minimum 3.5 GPA to attend.

The Congress is an honors-only program for high school students who want to become physicians or go into medical research fields.

Whaley will gain advice from Ivy League and top medical school deans.

Whaley was nominated by Dr. Connie Mariano, the medical director of the National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists, to represent Onslow County Schools
