NAACP Plans National Conference On Schools In NC

The NAACP is bringing a national conference on education to Raleigh, where a debate over school diversity remains a live issue.

The civil rights group said Wednesday that its annual Daisy Bates Education summit will be held from Thursday through Saturday.

The conference will include representatives from 2,200 NAACP branches and units from around the country. NAACP national president Benjamin Jealous will deliver an address on Friday.

Wake County has been near the center of national debates about racial and ethnic diversity in schools. This year, a newly-elected school board voted to end the county's decade-old policy of busing for socioeconomic diversity.

The NAACP has led protests and filed federal complaints over that decision.

I am encouraged by the realistic and true statements posted here on this issue. These black charlatans and their ilk need to be flushed out into the open and made to answer the questions and statements made on this blog. Illegitimacy among blacks and the failure of single parents to teach their children responsible ethics is the root cause for the black children of America. Government is a poor substitute for a loving mother and father. If you take offense to that, get a job!.

Good point Neo, yet you continue to blaim teachers in your other posts for all of the short falls of the education system. Which one is it? Is it the fault of the parent, the teacher, the students, or just anyone who isn't you? What is your solution?

"Why is the naacp so concerned about a busing policy to the excusion of any other problem like the voter intimidation cases with the new black panther movement" Because they think that blacks cannot (ever, and in any way) be racists. By very definition the NAACP is a racist organization! LOL What an oxymoron! Their very own existence proves that they have a racists agenda. Lets start a NAAWP and see what society thinks about it. Or how about lets have Anglo-saxon only scholarships and colleges! (but that would be racist right?)

I would love if anyone from the naacp who might be reading this to respond to this. Why is the naacp so concerned about a busing policy to the excusion of any other problem like the voter intimidation cases with the new black panther movement. This is a serious question, so please provide a serious answer.

They would be wiser to address the recently announced "72% of black children born out of wedlock", which is the basic root of their ethnic problems and its impact on all American society.

We have a black president. As an american one cannot advance any further in our socitey,so why is the naacp still around? NEO and Real Issue you are both correct. There is no reason why any person in this country cannot make a good or better life for them selves.

If diversity is such a good thing in the public schools, as the NAACP and Rev. Barber contend, then why do they fight so hard to maintian historically black colleges and universities. Why aren't historically black colleges required to recruit more white students to maintaim the diversity they demand in public schools. Diversity hides under achieving students in with achieving students to maintain a false appearance.

Maybe they should help in crime prevention, like assisting authorities in investigations!Encouraging the black community to speak up when they know something about a case.

Why is this group still around? All they do is encourage racism and cause strife. Boycott the racists!
