Making The Grade: NC School Test Scores Coming

Schools across the state will find out if their students are making the grade Thursday morning as the State Board of Education is set to release test results.

According to the Department of Public Instruction website, the State Board of Education approved a higher proficiency standard on October 3rd of this year.

The department said that standard will now be reflected in the 2012-2013 school year end-of-course and end-of-grade testing.

Leaders expect to see proficiency numbers drop by up to 40% using the new evaluation model.

While the department's web page noted student's scores do not affect their grades or class standing, the new numbers will provide a baseline for educators to work from moving forward with the newer, higher standards.

School scores are due to be released at 11 a.m. Thursday at the board's monthly meeting in Raleigh.
