Lenoir County Schools Investigate Possible Fraud

School and law enforcement officials in Lenoir County are looking into possible money mismanagement of system surplus property.

The Kinston Free Press says Lenoir County school officials have now met with the sheriff's office as the look into the process and procedures of selling surplus school property.

The paper says Maintenance Director Owen Stroud handled at least part of the surplus program for Lenoir County Schools and resigned last week for personal reasons, including stress and health issues.

Stroud said in an interview with the paper, "There is nothing real newsworthy here, I just did not want to do it anymore."
