On the first day of football practice for high school teams, the interim head coach of the Rose Rampants was suspended.
Dave Wojtecki was suspended by the school for five days. The school system says Wotjecki will return to work on Monday, August 5.
Pitt County Schools released this statement:
"Earlier this week, school system officials were made aware of an incident at J.H. Rose High School that does not reflect the sportsmanship and respect that all coaches, players, and fans are expected to display in Pitt County athletics. District leaders contacted administrators at the school, and the school's administration handled all discipline related to the matter. We are confident that everyone involved understands the reasons for the discipline, and we will all move forward with a successful fall sports season."
Wojtecki was named interim head coach in the wake of the year-long suspension of Todd Lipe. He was suspended during last year's residency controversy involving D.H Conley football player Maleek Gorham.
