As the search continues for a new Pitt County School's Superintendent, an interim has been named to lead the largest school district in the east.
The Pitt County Board of Education voted, unanimously Monday night for Michael Cowin to lead the school system after Dr. Beverly Emory steps down on June 30th.
Cowin is currently the Assistant Superintendent of Finance and has been with Pitt county School for the past 10 years.
According to the Public Information Officer, the Board members did not talk about any salary increases during this meeting for Cowin.
Emory announced back in March she would leave the school system, after 7 years, to take the same position in Winston-Salem.
