Governor Supports Tax Free Weekend

Governor Beverly Perdue did some tax free shopping of her own today in her hometown of New Bern.

The governor hit the WalMart on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard with her two grandchildren, Sarah and Jake. The helped the governor "build a backpack" as part of the Community in Schools of North Carolina program.

Perdue was also donating school supplies for teachers and supporting the tax free weekend.

"This is just a way of saying let the state get off your back this weekend and help you save a little money while you do what you do to get school started right, because when school starts we're working on the next generations work force and that's mighty important," said the governor.

Tax Free Weekend = Government Control of your Money but aren't they nice letting you keep some of it sometimes. Meanwhile they are drafting legislation to tax internet goods and services that don't exist physically in the state in which you live. Why? So they can turn around and show how compassionate they are by some day giving you a tax free internet weekend? Its all about control. Once you give it to them everyone gets use to it and then these tax free weekends seem like such a great think you government does for you. I purchased a computer for my kid the day before this weekend and all supplies and clothing afterward. I am not partaking of the government program that would have you eating from their hands.

I figured she would just STEAL all the paper, pencils and ink pens they need from the state. I mean shes been stealing from the tax payers the whole time she has been in office so why bother stopping now.

" because when school starts we're working on the next generations work force and that's mighty important" Hey Bev, with the way you run the state, we won't have a school system left.

Isn't this the same governor who wanted to keep the extra penny sales tax! I might have more respect for her if she was out shopping on a different weekend and paying the existing tax. I can't wait to NOT vote for her (for the second time).

The penny tax wouldve helped in some areas, i never noticed the difference when I bought anything but it is hard to support someone who uses a tax free weekend to show her "support" for the future of our state. Like she cant afford to pay taxes anyway.
