Eastern Carolina Student Finalist In Google Doodle Contest

An eight year old here in Eastern Carolina is a finalist in a national online contest that could land her $30,000 in college scholarship money.

Lauren Jackson is the North Carolina finalist for the Doodle for Google contest. Google says 114,000 students entered the contest.

Contestants had to design a Google logo in the theme of "If I could travel in time, I'd visit...". Jackson is a student at Bearfield Primary School in Ahoskie.

The winner's logo will appear on Google's homepage, they will receive the $30,000 scholarship and their school gets a $50,000 technology grant.

Voting runs through Thursday and they allow just one vote per computer. To vote, click on the link below.
