Chicago Educator To Lead Washington County Schools

A Chicago educator with Eastern Carolina roots will be Washington County's next school superintendent.

The county school board Monday night unanimously approved the hiring of Dr. Joseph Davis as superintendent for Washington County's school system. He will start October 8th and will be paid $125,000 a year.

Dr. Davis is currently chief deputy of schools for the Chicago school system. The Wilson County native previously was special assistant to the Wilson County superintendent and was a principal in Wilson County for eight years.

Davis replaces John Farrelly who left June 30th for the top school job in Edgecombe County.
