24-year-old Jared Dale Knight appeared at the Harnett County Courthouse around 9:00 a.m. Thursday and asked the judge for a court appointed attorney.
Knight is facing six charges of possession of a firearm after police say he refused to come out of his home when they tried to serve an arrest warrant Wednesday which started a three hour standoff that put Campbell University on lockdown. The warrant was for a charge that he stole a gun from his employer.
He surrendered peacefully.
Knight remains in jail under a $400,000 bond and his next court date is set for November 22.
Campbell University officials say Knight has been dismissed from the University and will no longer be allowed back on campus.
