A local school superintendent will start the upcoming school year in that position, but she won't finish it.
Debbie Harris-Rollins announced she is retiring as the Bertie County Schools Superintendent. She will retire in September, despite having more than two years left on her contract.
A statement released on Friday by Bertie County Schools said Harris-Rollins is retiring to “return to her favorite past times – travel and foreign missions.”
Harris-Rollins started in Bertie County last April.
