A school in Martin County and one in Onslow County are hoping their principals will be the named the best in the state today.
The 2012 Wells Fargo North Carolina Principal of the Year will be announced this afternoon at a ceremony in Cary.
Clay Wagner of Riverside High in Martin County is up for the honor representing the northeast region of the state. From Onslow County and the southeast region, Glenn Reed of Blue Creek Elementary is up for the award.
The award recipient will receive $3,000 for his or her school and $3,000 for personal use. He or she also will receive a scholarship for a 10-day educational tour of China sponsored by EF Education First. The Principal of the Year serves a one-year term as advisor to the State Board of Education.
