Adult Spelling Bee Brings Competition

A spelling bee in Washington had competitors bringing their "A" game Tuesday night.

About 22 teams participated in the adult team spelling bee at P.S. Jones Middle School sponsored by the Washington/Beaufort County Chamber Of Commerce. The fundraiser helps bring money to educational efforts in the county.

WITN News Anchor Dave Jordan served as emcee of the event.

The winning team was a group of school teachers from John Small School in Washington that went by the name Queen Bees. The winning word was symmetrophobia. It means implying an aversion to symmetry.
