Decision In Beaufort County School Funding Dispute

The N.C. Supreme Court has made a decision in the funding dispute between the Beaufort County School Board and the board of commissioners.

A jury had previously awarded the school board just over $765,000 in funding the school board claimed the commissioners owed for the 2006-2007 school year.

The N.C. Supreme Court has reversed that decision.

The lawsuit from the school board came after the commissioners provided less money than they requested during the years in question.

Some of that $765,000 has already been paid by the county.

The Beaufort Co. school board started this fiasco and I am glad the NC Supreme Court had the common sense to end it the way they did. I feel that the school board members should personally be held responsible for our tax money that was wasted on this matter. The school board was more than happy to sue the county commissioners on this frivolous matter while using county tax money, but I bet they would have thought about it long and hard before they spent their money.

Ok people, who made out like champs here? Can we say the LAWYERS!!!! I find it interesting that the state supreme court has had this case since last year, yet, chooses to wait until AFTER the state budget was passed. TYPICAL politics!
