Classes start on Tuesday for East Carolina University students, but Thursday, it was all about moving in.

There are close to five thousand students planning to make the university home.

And for the next two days they will be coming in droves to campus.

Parents unloaded all the necessities their kids will need for the first semester. As they moved in we talked to two students about their first time on their own.

ECU housing officials staggered move in days in order to accommodate all of the students.

In response to "Concerned"... any city can be dangerous. It's not just Greenville. No matter what university you attend, you will be faced with some type of danger. That's just the world that we live in.

Welcome back students. One thing I do need to mention is in regard to driving and walking in town. Uptown has some one way streets, please note these when driving as it will save someones life. There are also some corners that have 2-way stops or 4-way stops, get familiar with them. Once again it could save a life. Don't dart across the street unless at a crosswalk, drivers are not required to stop for you, and past experience proves you can be run over. Have a safe time here in Greenville.

Better add an extra 10 minutes to your daily commute or you will probably be late!!!

Now the thugs in downtown Greenville have a fresh, new, innocent batch. Maybe ECU police will keep them safe on their bicycles. Oh, wait...they're too busy standing downtown watching drunk girls get on the busses!

I feel bad for these kids because they just don't know how dangerous Greenville is.

I remember the move in days fondly ('79-'84), especially having to get there a few days early for band camp......good times.
