A little girl in North Carolina has died after getting hit by an SUV as she got off her school bus.
Police in Raleigh say 6-year-old Ashley Ramos Hernand died Wednesday afternoon after getting hit by a car as she and other kids tried to cross the street. They had just gotten off the bus from a year-round elementary school in Raleigh. That's according to several media outlets.
With many public schools starting up next week, the rules of the road when it comes to school buses are extremely important. If a school bus is stopped with its stop arm out on a two or four land road you must stop, no matter what direction you're going. If the four lane road has a median or center turning lane, only cars behind the bus need to stop.
