Teachers Back In The Classroom

It's still a week until most kids head back to school, but Pitt County teachers and others across eastern Carolina, were back in the classroom Monday.

The 31 teachers at Elmhurst Elementary in Greenville are back at school as their official summer break ends. The teachers will be doing workshops throughout the week and getting their materials and classrooms ready for their students.

Teachers say they're excited for a new year and their goal is to keep up good test scores.

The school has an open house on Thursday and then students head back to school next Tuesday, August 25th.

Wow; that's too early! Do your students get out earlier than June 9th? I hope so!

High school teachers in Martin County were back in the classroom on August 3rd. Students started back to school on August 6th. It would have been nice for WITN to cover us. Martin County is on a split schedule. The elementary teachers start on Wednesday. We will have been in school 3 weeks before Pitt County students start.
