State Lawmakers were back at work today trying to come up with a final plan to balance the budget.

Several state funded programs could face cuts including Smart Start which provides funding for childcare facilities across the state and here in the east.

Officials with Onslow County Partnership for Children say their funding could be cut by more than 20 million dollars.

The group provides funding for childcare facilities in Onslow County. Officials at the Childcare Network in Jacksonville say they receive funding for everything from supplies to training for teachers.

The House may vote on a temporary spending plan as the new fiscal year begins Wednesday.
