Governor In The East Pushing Tax Hike For Education

Monday, Governor Beverly Perdue toured several cities in the state and right here in the East, pushing the importance of preserving money for education in the state budget.

The Governor arrived at South Central High School Monday afternoon in Winterville to encourage teachers and taxpayers.

The Governor's concerns stem from the house's proposal to cut seven percent from the public education fund, meaning teachers could lose their jobs and classroom sizes could increase.

Those who oppose the Governor's plan stood outside and inside holding signs stating, no more taxes. Opponents say more than 50 percent of the budget goes toward public education already and many schools are still not making the grade.

Perdue says education is the economic development for our state and should be the priority in the budget.

It's okay, just keep letting the school system fail. There are plenty of professionals from northern countries that would love to move to NC for the high paying jobs and climate, simply because the next generation will be incompetent. Kayleigh and Amanda are prime examples.

The ignorant posts submitted by Kayleigh & Amanda clearly show that throwing money at the schools is NOT working....What the schools need is good, old fashioned discipline...Unfortunately because of irresponsible parents & money grabbing organizations such as the ACLU & NAACP, good education has gone down the drain and sadly, I don't think we can ever get it back, no matter how much money we throw at for the Governor, I regret tremendouly that I voted for her....but NEVER again....Throw all the incumbents out and lets start over!!!

At the risk of being judgemental, WHAT KIND OF IDIOT would "hope they close the schools too"? Obviously this is someone who cannot type a grammatically correct sentence with any sign of intelligence in it. Kayleigh, honey, you OBVIOUSLY need an education that your texting buddies aren't going to give that will help mold you into a productive, responsible, and mature citizen. I would hate to think we would be turning our country over to people like you in the future, unless you wise up and take advantage of the educational opportunities you are being offered.

I hope after the embarrassing turnout from the last 2 "rallies" she will use the State's money in better ways and cancel all future STUPID rallies. I can not believe someone so ignorant got elected as our Gov.
