Rose High School Recognized By Magazine

One eastern Carolina high school has been awarded an honorable mention by a national publication.

Newsweek magazine has named J.H. Rose High School in Greenville as one of America's best 1,500 high schools for the fourth consecutive year.

Rose came in at 688, up from 701 last year.

Newsweek identifies the top public high schools based on a formula that calculates the total number of advanced placement, international baccalaureate, or Cambridge tests given at a school, divided by the total number of graduating students.

I think they should also consider drug infestation, gang activity, incidents of violence and the percentage of kids who have never been studious enough to pick up a "Newsweek" rag when Newsweek is doing their silly little rankings. This ranking is completely meaningless. It is intended by the liberal elites to bestow credibility on their failed ideals. Try again, this is dumb.

If this was mentioned as one of the BEST, Lord have Mercy on the worst. I would have thought like Anonymous that it would have been noted for top 10 in fights, drugs, & crime!! Someone was wearing their "rose" colored galsses when this decision was made?

I moved into greenville into the rose district for academics and athletics. I have been pleased with both. I am however concerned on a daily basis for the safety for the students and staff, because of the crime, drugs, fights, etc. we need 6-8 resource officers, or armed security. this is for all high school and middle schools. we do not need to cut bugets in this area.
