Four-Year-Old Leaves Preschool And Walks Mile Home

Pittsburgh school officials are trying to figure out how a 4-year-old boy slipped away from his preschool in the middle of the school day and walked to his home about a mile away.

The boy's mother, Markeya McCary, says she was shocked when her son showed up at home Monday when he was supposed to be at the Greenway Early Childhood Center.

School officials had noticed he was missing and had already begun to search for him when they learned he had made it home.

McCary says her son told her he left because someone tried to lock him in a closet. School officials are investigating that claim and trying to figure out how the boy was able to slip away from school.

SOunds like he was not being watched the way he was suppose to be. Schools and day care centers to be more watchful when it comes to kids. I had an incident here recently where my 13 year old left school because he was being bullied and the school had no idea he was gone. He had been gone for 3 hours. He left in the middle of a class. I was irrate and this mother should be also. ANything could have happened to that four year old who obviously is very smart for his age!
