Girl Hit And Killed By School Bus

Police in Rhode Island say a 15-year-old girl was struck and killed by a school bus carrying students on their way to a suburban Providence high school.

Police Capt. Matthew Costello says the Pilgrim High School student was crossing the street at the time of the 7 a.m. accident on Friday. She was hit by the bus as it turned left at an intersection near the school in Warwick.

Police say in a statement that the bus caught the girl underneath it after she was struck.

Costello says the medical examiner is also investigating the death.

I am from Rhode Island and the students on the bus were on their way to another school in the area, not Providence. Also, she was wearing a hood and head phones, assumming the worl would stop for her, not thinking, and that is how the accident happened. God Bless her family, friends, and the bus driver.
